Wraparound Services and Fees
We are happy to announce that the Relational Coordination Survey (RCS) is now offered in a wraparound service model with an all inclusive pricing structure. Why this change?
We find that both researchers and consultants have a better experience with the survey -- they learn more -- when it's used properly. The RCS provides a network measure with tremendous potential for measuring interactions in small face to face groups and in large highly distributed groups, and with the potential to include customers as well as providers. As a network measure, the RCS offers insights that are not possible from a traditional survey, but also requires some additional thought. Our RCS staff will coach you through the conceptualization and set up of your survey to ensure alignment between your survey configuration and what you are hoping to learn.
Moreover, when you are using the RCS for diagnostic purposes to inform and support organizational change, there are additional considerations for how to feed RCS data back to participants in a way that inspires insight, hope and transformation, rather than defensiveness, anger and withdrawal. Our RCS staff will coach you through this process, with additional skills available from graduates of RC Survey Intervention Training, and from those who have become RC Certified.
Here are the wraparound RCS services we offer, followed by a summary of costs.**
RC Survey Support and Services
- Scoping. The RCS staff collaborates closely with you to make sure there is alignment of project goals with the design and set-up of your RC Survey. This includes discussion and consideration of the level and unit of analysis, focal work process/client population, questions of bounding, inclusion and exclusion criteria, developing early hypotheses regarding the types of relational coordination patterns to expect based on knowledge of team dynamics, etc. We consider this upfront collaboration and engagement to be a key determinant of a successful survey effort and a successful collaborative effort.
- Full Data Management and Deployment. Customized participant invitations, auto-reminders for non-respondents, weekly status updates, optional demographic add-on, bulk upload of participants, accommodation of web-based deployment, self-registration, and/or paper deployment. This process is fully managed by the RCS staff with scheduled updates sent to you.
- Analysis. Once the survey has closed, the RCS tool generates a summary report of relational coordination findings and a downloadable raw data file in excel format for linkage to outcomes of interest. The report includes survey response rates, summary findings of the seven dimensions of relational coordination and the relational coordination index—one that represents evaluation of workgroups by others and another that is a summary of self-reported findings, a relational coordination matrix that provides reciprocal assessments of relational coordination across workgroups, and a relational map that is a graphic representation of reciprocal assessments. This report is at the core of understanding team dynamics and opportunities for intervention.
- Debrief of Results. For each survey that is set up and deployed, an RCRC staff member will provide an hour of consultation to make sense of your RC data. The RCS report is robust in content and as the facilitator or project leader, it is important to think through carefully which data are shared publicly and with whom, and which data are used privately to inform the improvement approach. The core areas addressed include basic data interpretation, identification of overall areas of effectiveness and nuanced assessment of opportunities for improvement, and discussion of how to present data to teams based on considerations of pre-existing relationships, the amount of time available for presentation, and situational awareness of insider/outsider status.

**This new service model was effective as of February 27, 2013.
Survey fees are charged per survey set-up (e.g. separately for each site that requires its own customized set up, and separately for pre and post surveys). Fees include all services described above: Scoping, Full Data Management and Deployment, Analysis, and Debrief of Results, as described above.
By Summer 2013, we will launch the RCS into a brand new entity -- called Relational Coordination Analytics -- that will live in the highly innovative environment of Kendall Square near MIT. Here we will build even more capabilities into the RCS, including more sophisticated data visualization, integration into your organization's information system and dashboard, cross-organizational benchmarking and more, while remaining closely linked to the RCRC and its mission. Stay tuned and please contact us at info@relationalcoordination.org if you are curious to learn more!
